Abel-Shittim / Shittim
Israel's last camp before crossing the Jordan, setting for the incident with Balaam and the immorality at Baal-peor (Numbers 22-25). Tell el-Hammam, east of the Jordan Valley, is the leading candidate, with nearby Tell el-Kefrein proposed as an alternative.
