Hebron

Where Abraham bought the cave of Machpelah to bury Sarah (Genesis 23), and later the city where David first reigned as king of Judah. The ancient ruins lie at Tel Rumeida, just west of Hebron's old city — essentially the same site as modern Hebron (Arabic: Al-Khalil).
