Nineveh
Capital of the Assyrian Empire, where the prophet Jonah proclaimed repentance, and whose destruction is prophesied in the book of Nahum. Identified with the Kuyunjik and Nebi Yunus ruins on the east bank of the Tigris, opposite modern Mosul, Iraq.
