Punon

One of Israel's wilderness campsites (Numbers 33:42-43), an area known since antiquity for copper mining. The name survives in the modern Jordanian region of Feinan, making it a relatively well-accepted identification among wilderness stations.

Because of the phonetic continuity of the place name (Punon → Feinan), it is considered one of the more certain identifications among the wilderness stopping-places.
